A new repair shop opened in Hackney last month allowing customers to give electronic items a new lease of life and reduce e-waste.
Fixing Factory gives customers the opportunity to learn skills on how to repair household goods by working together alongside a volunteer fixer.
The company’s head of sustainable consumption Sarah Howden believes, as the second-largest global producer of e-waste per capita, the UK has an onus to tackle this problem.
She said: “There’s a huge opportunity to be reusing and repairing these high-value items.
“These things really are a no-brainer.”
Hackney is Fixing Factory’s second site in London, alongside Camden, while there are also plans to launch a third repair shop in Haringey.
