Team USA win the first Anglo-American Padel Cup at Padel Hub North London

Team USA lifted the first-ever Anglo-American Padel Cup, edging Great Britain 53-43 in a fiercely contested two-day battle.

Held on 10–11 October 2025 at Padel Hub North London, the tournament fulfilled its promise of a transatlantic clash as Team USA earned crucial 3 points to cement victory in the 47th of 48 matches played.

The Cup co-founders said: “This event turned out to be many things – an extraordinarily exciting competition, a contest that added a new chapter to the historic sporting rivalry between the US and GB and a showcase for the amazing padel talent developing in both countries.

“We cannot wait until next year’s version in the USA!”

The event format featured each nation entering two pairs per category in the Open and Age Group divisions, with matches played in a best-of-three-set format: a full third set in the Open Division and a 10-point tiebreak in the age groups. A 3–2–1 points system decided the overall score from 96 available points, with 49 points needed to win.

The tournament opened with a ceremony featuring live anthems sung by tenor Alexander Wall and welcoming speeches from the event’s co-founders.

The 10 matches on Friday were filled with high-quality padel and plenty of excitement among the crowd, with several going the distance as Team USA ended Day One ahead 24–16.

Team GB struck in the Men’s Open, where Cameron Dollimore and Nick Hatchett powered past Andrew Herring and Kevin Ye 6–4, 6–2. But the Americans held firm in several tight contests, none more gripping than the Women’s 50+ thriller, where Andi Neugarten and Sarah Levy prevailed 7–5, 4–6, (11–9) in a thrilling tiebreak.

Then Britain’s Ellie Tait and Laura Jackson added a crucial win in the Women’s Open, building momentum for Saturday’s decisive matches.

Tait said: “The atmosphere and sense of pride were incredible, it was very cool to feel a long-standing rivalry reignited.”

With the margins tight and the Cup still up for grabs, the stage was set for a dramatic finish.

Going into Day Two, the USA held a 25-15 lead, but the Brits came back fighting. Early victories from Team GB Open Mixed pairings, Laura Jackson and George Weller, and Alice Keddie and Rafa Vega, helped GB to pull ahead to lead 37-35 by the afternoon.

With two matches left to be played, GB needed to win both, but fell short when the Men’s 60+ US number one pair, Ron Bobman and Tom Bartze, secured a victory over Team GB’s Sandy Case and Minter Dial to clinch the victory for Team USA.

Then in the final game, Dhany Quevedo and Antonella Santeusanio prevailed over Team GB’s Alice Keddie and Victoria Nicholas in a 7-6 thriller.

Team USA Women’s co-captains Ana Magrini and Lisa Teer said: “We leave Great Britain with a trophy, and more importantly, our whole team leaves with new transatlantic friendships with people as passionate about padel as we are.”

Team GB Men’s Open Captain, Dollimore, said: “The Americans came with all the competitiveness we expected, and I know the closeness of the result means Team GB already has the fire in its belly to claim back the Cup next year.

“The battle has commenced – bring it on in the USA in 2026!”

Backed by both the LTA and American Padel Association, the goal for the Anglo-American Padel Cup is to become a flagship event on a growing global padel calendar.
