Great Britain and America may share a language, but the first Anglo-American Padel Cup will decide which nation comes out on top.
Team USA meet Team GB in the sport’s Ryder Cup equivalent at The Padel Hub in North London from 10-11 October 2025.
The nations will have four players, in two teams, for each category of the men’s and women’s competitions.
In a unique multi-generational format, there are four categories; Open, 40-plus, 50-plus, and 60-plus.
Co-founder Bill Ulman, said: “I love my country, the USA, and I have a deep fondness for the UK, where we lived for three years and where my twin daughters were born.
“Creating an event like this, therefore, combines many of my passions into one crazy, fun entrepreneurial event.
“I truly hope all the players have one of the best padel experiences of their lives.”
The cup is backed by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and the US Padel Association (USPA), with the former officiating.
The LTA’s support for padel is paying off, with adult awareness nearly doubling to 43%, reaching 23 million people, and over eight million Britons expressing a desire to try padel thanks to its accessible, social appeal.
GB Women captain Eloise Tait said: “I’m really excited for the tournament to showcase the increasing level in GB.
“We’ve all been putting in the hours on court, and the prep will pay off when it counts.”
Players will enjoy support from a range of sponsors, including padel apparel innovators, on-site saunas, and Bero, the non-alcoholic beer company started by actor Tom Holland.
Another sponsor, Playtomic, is an app connecting players, clubs, and coaches with courts.
Playtomic co-founder Pablo Carro said: “Ultimately, the greatest milestone would be Olympic inclusion, a dream shared by the entire padel industry.
“Any initiative that promotes padel in the UK and the US, especially when it builds on successful sports formats, is a big step toward strengthening the sport’s international recognition.”
In a futher sign of the growth of padel Team GB are set to travel to New York for next year’s tournament.
