London’s largest food redistribution charity has made its five-millionth meal for people in need – a bean and lentil stew with rice.
The Felix Project rescues food which would otherwise go to waste and transforms it into meals to feed those experiencing food poverty.
The kitchen, which is based in their east London depot in Poplar, produces around 5,000 meals a day whcih are distributed to over 1,200 organisations across the capital.
Head of production Nick Kerle said: “Throughout the cost of living, we’ve seen demand for what we do rise, so we do our best to meet that demand and provide Londoners with a nutritious and delicious meal – something we hope puts a smile on people’s faces every day.”
Late last year, The Felix Project announced they would merge with FareShare, another leading redistribution charity to create a greater national impact.
