The Filipino community came together to celebrate their culture at the 2025 Spring Fest in Mile End.
The May event, organised by Filipino Thrive and JhermiNATION, was called Kantahan, Kainan, Kultura – which translates to singing, food, and culture – three key aspects of the Filipino identity.
For the organisers such events are important because they celebrating heritage and community in a foreign land.
Jimmy Wong, the founder of Filipino Thrive, said: “Events like this really do matter because they bring people together and they give budding artists a platform to perform.”
For many Filipinos in attendance, they enjoyed seeing listening to the new artists as well as having their favourite foods.
Wong said: “My favourite part is seeing people having fun, especially Filipinos seeing their favourite food that they have not eaten for a long time.
“Just the excitement of having the feeling of being home in the Philippines.”
