A Dagenham golf club is leading efforts to increase minority ethnicity participation in golf as well as inspire the next generation.
Deshi Golf was created with the intention of making golf accessible to everyone in order to remove the stigma of it being for “posher people”.
The club has reached over 200 children since its foundation and now offers teaching from PGA professionals.
Deshi Golf founder, Imrul Gazi, said: “It’s all about giving opportunities to community kids, from east London, not just Asian but anyone from a less well-off background.
“Golf is perceived as not being for the every-day person, it is seen as an elitist sport and what we’re trying to do is break down barriers and make it more inclusive.”
