Sporting events across the UK have been put on hold following the death of the Queen.
England’s Test match against South Africa and the second day of the PGA Championship golf are among the sporting events reportedly postponed out of respect.
A European Tour Group statement said: “Out of respect for Her Majesty and the Royal Family, play has been suspended at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club for the remainder of Thursday and flags at Wentworth Club will be lowered to half-mast.”
Horse racing events have also been put on hold pending further announcements.
All of today’s Football League fixtures will not go ahead, while the Scottish Professional Football League announced the Cove Rangers and Dundee game will be postponed.
All Premier League, EFL fixtures and WSL fixtures this weekend are postponed.
The Irish FA has also announced this weekend’s fixtures in Northern Ireland will not happen.
However, the Super League play-off between Catalans and Leeds will still go ahead in spite of the Queen’s death.
Her passing was announced yesterday hours after doctor’s expressed concerns about her health.
Ten days of national mourning commenced on Friday following her death. She is succeeded by her son, who will now be known as King Charles III.
Some football matches yesterday still went ahead, such as Manchester United’s game against Real Sociedad and West Ham’s Europa Conference League match against FCSB.
The Tour of Britain also called off its final three stages.
International sporting events are largely going ahead, including the US Open which observed a minute’s silence in honour of the Queen.
