Amelia Dimoldenberg celebrates Chicken Shop Date’s 10 year anniversary

Amelia Dimoldenberg has celebrated the 10 year anniversary of Chicken Shop Date with an event featuring felt food, interactive workshops and even a golden nugget claw machine.

The 31-year-old comedian created the ’10 Years of an Idea’ event to celebrate the YouTube series’ decade long anniversary which took place on 26-27 September in the Protein Studios in Shoreditch.

The ’10 Years of an Idea’ event offered live panel discussions and Q&As to give young creatives the opportunity to ask questions first hand about breaking into the industry.

This event was a manifestation of Dimoldenberg’s belief to provide greater access and support into the creative world.

Upon entry, efforts to honour the series creative process was reflected through the hand made felt entrance, mimicking the felt chicken box in the intro of her videos.

The ‘Editors Notes Wall’ presented the behind the scenes process and gave visitors an insight into the world of the show and Dimoldenberg’s process.

The mock up chicken shop backdrop for fans to take pictures was a popular element of the exhibition style event, where visitors could re-enact interviews from the series becoming a part of the world.

The choice of a photo booth where guests were encouraged to take a picture created a personal touch to this celebratory event.

Instructions to add your social media handle and creative aspirations for the future showed Dimoldenberg’s push for community within the creative industry.

When asked if she could only choose three people to date for the rest of her life, who would be in her rotation, she said: “I would say Keke Palmer because she’s hilarious and will always keep me laughing.

“I would say AJ Tracey because he was one of my first crushes.

“And finally, I would say Elmo because you’ve got to keep the spice of life a little bit different.”

Her idea for this series initially started off in a youth magazine in a column format, and soon took to our screens debuting her flirtatiously awkward charm in 2014 with her first ever Chicken Shop Date guest, Ghetts.

So, to highlight the growth since this first interview, she marked the anniversary by welcoming Ghetts back to the date for a 10 Year Anniversary Special.

Ten years on since the series’ birth, she has welcomed famous stars such as Cher, Louis Theroux, Maya Jama and many more, with the most viewed interview sitting at 12million with the famous actor Andrew Garfield

The event was ticketed according to hourly slots so the space did not become overly crowded, ensuring the opportunity for every guest to connect with the exhibition.

Post-event, Dimoldenberg and her team kept on trying to inspire guests. They have been posting timelines, pictures and panel clips from the event on social media platforms to ensure accessibility to knowledge and a feel for the experience for her followers.

The rising popularity of Chicken Shop Date has worked in tandem with the progression of social media and the digital age working as a large platform for her to champion her ideas.

Dimoldenberg is a major advocate for the funding for media and content creators striving for greater recognition from the government alongside nearly 10,000 other creators.

Alongside the ’10 Years of an Idea’ event, over summer, Dimz Inc Academy offered a week long free of charge creative education course throughout July 2025 for 18-24 year olds.

This course had the manifesto of pushing young creative talent and supporting them to soar into creative careers.

The event concluded with Dimoldenberg greeting and chatting to the guests ending in an atmosphere of comfort and excitement.

When asked what her favourite chicken nugget in the whole of London, Dimoldenberg said: “Maybe Morley’s but also maybe Sam’s. Sam’s or Morley’s.”
