Growing mainstream and grassroots interest in hardcore punk, AKA hardcore, has taken hold of London’s alternative music scene.
Driven by the international popularity of bands such as Turnstile and Knocked Loose, alongside the success of domestic festivals like Outbreak, the subculture is making huge strides.

Theo Araby-Kirkpatrick, a promoter at New Cross Inn, believes the genre’s success is the culmination of years of both mainstream and grassroots efforts across the genre.
He said: “Hardcore has reached a new height, but I think that is something that has been building for the very least for the last ten years, if not quite a bit longer.”
