Four stabbed in Walthamstow with one in ‘life-threatening condition’

The Metropolitan Police is appealing for witnesses relating to the stabbing of four men in Walthamstow, one of which is in a life-threatening condition.

The police arrived to The Duke, a pub in Wood Street, around 8pm last night after receiving reports of a stabbing incident in the establishment.

Units from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance were also present at the scene.

Three men were found inside the pub injured with stab wounds while another man was found at Shernall Street, close to the pub, with similar injuries.

The four men, all aged at a range of 20-42, were taken to a hospital in East London with one of them in a critical state, fighting for their life.

Detective Inspector Grant Stevens led the investigation and reassured citizens about any further danger.

He said: “Whilst news of this kind is concerning, I would like to reassure the community that there is nothing to suggest any wider risk to the public.

“Officers will remain in the area throughout the day and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak with them.”

Stevens explained that the investigation was still in its early stages and appealed for members of the public to reach out if they knew anything about what happened.

Officers of Waltham Forest’s policing team are in the midst of investigating and approaching community members with enquiries.

It is unknown at the moment if the stabbings in the pub and the one in Shernall Street are related.

The police asked for anyone with related information to call 101 while quoting CAD 6988/13Feb.

For any witnesses who wish to talk while remaining anonymous, the police asked them to contact Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
