WATCH: Pro-Palestine activists gather outside Old Bailey to protest student terrorism trial

Pro-Palestine activists rallied outside the Old Bailey in London on Wednesday, the final day of a former SOAS University student’s terrorism trial.

Sarah Cotte, 22, was arrested in 2024 under Section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000, inviting support for a proscribed organisation.

The arrest was made in connection to a speech given on the SOAS campus in October 2023.

She then faced interim hearings at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and the Old Bailey, before her trial commenced at the latter on 22 June.

SOAS University of London has not issued a formal public statement directly commenting on Sarah Cotte or the ongoing legal proceedings against her.

The university maintains a standard policy that protest and dissent are permitted as long as they remain peaceful and do not threaten community safety.

Jay, a protestor from Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! said: “It is a case that affects all of us.”
