One of these is Gecko Coffeehouse, a fully vegan cafe that sells exceptional coffee, along with plant-based food in the heart of east London.

Muslims and non-Muslim customers alike are fans of the coffee shop, which is hosting an Iftar brunch for the first time. The opening hours are from 5pm to 8pm once a week for Ramadan.

Andrew Shovlin, the owner, said: “It’s vital to provide spaces where people feel seen and celebrated. Bringing the community together during this month fosters a sense of belonging and spreads much-needed positivity.”

Founded in 2021, the business has been serving the community for five years, focusing on inclusivity.

An accessible £5 study pass has been introduced to allow regular customers to use their downstairs lounge while fasting, without any pressure to order.

This year the coffee shop have stuck to their signature menu and hope to explore a Ramadan themed menu next year.
