The Brick Lane Curry Festival is returning this weekend after a nine-year hiatus.
The event will be taking place until Sunday, with many restaurants opening their doors and inviting people to understand why Brick Lane has been deemed a “curry hub.”

City Spice, voted the best restaurant on Brick Lane, is particularly excited for the return of this well-loved event.
Head chef Niaz Caan advocated for the hundreds of tourists the event attracts and the positive impact the festival has on the neighborhood.
He said: “It brings Brick Lane to the attention of the public. It has a good reputation for serving good food.
“It puts Brick Lane back on the map as a curry hub.”
The event creates the opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in the essence of what makes Brick Lane special.
The family-owned restaurant is one of the most beloved in London and has won numerous awards in the last several years, including the Regional Restaurant of the year (ARTA) in 2024.

But what truly sets City Spice apart is their exclusive menu created by the chef, which Caan takes pride in.
The menu selection includes family recipes that have been acknowledged on a wide scale including being featured on cook-offs.
Caan’s vegan menu was among the first to be debuted in London, many dishes of which will be featured at the festival this year.
He shared that there have been updates to the menu, as well as the wine and drinks list, which City Spice is eager to share.
Caan wants to invite people into not only the food but the atmosphere that the event creates, which is what Brick Lane is all about.
He added: “Dishes are sentimental. When you create something and people enjoy, that’s the most satisfying thing there is.”
