The founder of Hackney Flea Market explained why more people are buying second-hand items – and why Gen Z is leading the way.
New data from the British Retail Consortium shows that more people than ever are buying second-hand items.
Gen Z – people aged between 14 and 29 – buy and sell more than any other age group.
Mark Farhall, who founded Hackney Flea Market in 2013, said this was something he had noticed.
He said: “When I first started it was a slightly older crowd.
“Over the last few years, there has been a huge increase in the number of attendees who are under-30.”
