Prime minister Starmer still accepting gifts from Arsenal Football Club

Sir Keir Starmer has continued to accept gifts from Arsenal Football Club despite criticism over transparency last year.

The latest gift, accepted on the 29 April, was listed on the prime minister’s register of interests as tickets and hospitality for two people in the directors’ box, with an approximate market value £500 each.

There were two other gifts of seats in the directors’ box accepted from Arsenal on the 1 and 8 April, bringing the total value of gifts from the North London Premier League side that month to £2,000.

While the MP for Holborn and St Pancras is already a season ticket holder at The Emirates stadium, he has previously said he cannot sit in his usual seat due to security concerns.

Since becoming Prime Minister, Starmer has accepted £9,000-worth of tickets from Arsenal.

Last October, Starmer paid back more than £6,000 for gifts, including Taylor Swift tickets, clothing rental for his wife, and tickets to a horse racing event after facing backlash over transparency.H

The Labour Party leader received donations totalling approximately £100,000 between 2019 and 2024, significantly more than any other member of parliament during the same period.

The Prime Minister’s Office was approached for comment.
